Courageous Parents Network (CPN)
Courageous Parents Network (CPN) is a Massachusetts-based 501(c)3 whose mission is to empower, support, and orient parents caring for children with serious illness. CPN’s vision promotes the family’s journey as one of minimal regret and maximum healing. The organization was founded in 2013 by parent Blyth Lord—whose daughter and nephew died from Tay-Sachs disease—to harness the power of web and mobile platforms and digital media to provide parents with the information, guidance tools, and community support they need to care for their seriously ill children, regardless of diagnosis.
CPN’s innovative model and platform distributes 500 original short videos, a robust parent blog, guided pathways and downloadable guides for parents, on topics spanning the wide range of issues families confront, including coping with the diagnosis, understanding anticipatory grief, working with the medical team, keeping their family strong, making difficult decisions about medical interventions, transitioning to end-of-life if that is the prognosis, and coping following their child’s death. CPN also maintains a robust provider portal to help pediatric providers support families across these areas.
