As part of our overall mission to help patients get access to medicines and, ultimately, transform lives, we have partnered with Mediaplanet UK to support its Rare Disease Day 2019 campaign.
There are currently over 300 million people living with a rare disease around the world. That means that 1 in 20 people will suffer from one of these conditions at some point in their life. Rare Disease day is celebrated around the world every year, on the last day of February, to help raise awareness of these rare diseases and the impact they have on patients’ lives.
The Mediaplanet UK campaign was released today as a printed publication, enclosed within every copy of The Guardian newspaper. The content can also be accessed online. The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness among policymakers, HCP’s, Industry, patient support groups as well as the general public.
The publication features exclusive content from key figures advocating for the awareness of rare diseases; information on the importance and success of collaboration, the need for early diagnosis and the use of artificial intelligence and genetic testing in the treatment and diagnosis of rare diseases; as well as stories from researchers, patients and healthcare professionals.
